23 Carpe Jugulum The Magpie and the Phoenix A half-moon hangs over Lancre as it balances on the edge of night and day. Aided by an Omnian priest, who goes by the name of Mightily Oats, she overcomes the first signs of her own vulnerability and proves to be quite a challenge for these new creatures of night and day. Elsewhere the other three witches and blue pictsies called the Nac Mac Feegle make it even harder for these vampyres to seize the day in this dark novel that explores the conventions of traditional vampire stories and the tenacity of Lancrastians. | | | |
