14 Lords and Ladies This is another well-loved Discworld novel, like most of the witch books, and revolves around the upcoming marriage of Verence, King of Lancre and Magrat, witch companion of Nanny Ogg and Granny Weatherwax, and is sort of a spoof of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, itself a comedy. Of course, being a Discworld novel, we can’t just have a wedding… the boundaries between realities are wearing thin, the elves are threatening the Discworld once more – everyone seems to remember the elves as regal fairyfolk, but Granny and Nanny remember them a little differently, as they actually are: killers, vicious baby snatchers and without morals. Though it is a witch book, Lords and Ladies sees the return of Ridcully, Archchancellor of the Unseen University (someone Granny Weatherwax hasn’t seen in a long time), Casanunda the World's Second Greatest Lover and the Librarian. | | | |
