22 The Last Continent Another story that finds Rincewind right in the middle of everything and miles away from everything all at the same time; not only is the cowardly wizards in the unfortunate position of having to save the unlikely last continent of Fourecks, he’s lost in time by 30,000 years! Many hardened fans are very fond of Rincewind because he stars in the first two Discworld books, meeting him again in this novel is like coming across an old friend as you watch him struggle with the complexities of the time-space continuum, after distorting it by being there, and philosophical conundrums – oh, and a magic kangaroo. Of course wherever Rincewind is there are wizards not far behind, and the travelling chest on running legs called Luggage, and the librarian of the Unseen University of Ankh Morpork who was turned into an orang-utan by mistake with a magic spell, but refuses to be changed back again. | | | |
