I made it through slightly more than six lines before looking further down and realizing it went on too long to hold my attention span.

I went through it all. What has the word Arkansas to do with English, We don't use it hardly ever.

Well, ignoring that your sentence makes little sense, it says 90% of native English speakers will not know how to pronounce all those English words. It doesn't say that 90% of native English speakers use those words all the time, or even regularly.

Arkansas is one of those words that people mispronounce all the time if they've never heard it spoken before, thinking it sounds like Kansas with a Ah sound at the beginning, instead of like "Arc 'n Saw" - your friendly local lumber mill.

P.S. The only word unfamiliar to me is Foeffer.

Ah, I've seen this before! I'm not sure whether I should be ashamed or proud of the fact that I was able to pronounce all the words correctly - although I had to double check some of them.

I've looked Foeffer up, it doesn't appear in any dictionaries. In fact the only place it seems to appear is in that poem.

If anyone else can enlighten me on the meaning and pronunciation of the word Foeffer then I'd really appreciate it. I want to fit it into conversation ASAP.

I managed it all but struggled on a few words

    How do you pronounce foeffer?

Foeffer is a typo. It should be spelled feoffer, which is pronounced "feffer."

Thanks, Ba. I'd wondered about the meaning of that one.

Well, Arkansas is pronounced "Arkansaw" and not many people know that.

Most of us ignore it, too.

Where is Arkansas, anyway? Is it one of the southern desert states?

You mean it really exists ? I thought it was like the Dutch language, something made up just to piss off foreigners... :D

It is tucked in between Missouri and Louisiana to the north and south, and Oklahoma and Tennessee and Mississippi to the west and east, It is hardly desert, but despite the diamond mine is one of the poorer states, quite hilly and and rocky, it is beautiful, though. Lots of trees and very green, hot as heck in the summer with plenty of tornadoes. If you drive along the backroads you see lots of chickens that are obviously not being raised for their eggs or Sunday dinner if you know what I mean.

Because college is occupying to many of my brain cells, which it then shuts down access to, I was a little confused with Tamyra's explanation and I live in the US so here is Arkansas in picture form. It's the purple one that isn't Georgia. :)

m-w.com would be good for this. It's the Merriam-Webster dictionary website and it has pronunciations and links to Britannica Encyclopedia if you want to learn more. Now I know what a feoffer is.

I am now racking my brains to think what else you could possibly mean.

Also, thanks! Now I know where Arkansas is, should I ever want to go there.

Seperate little cages of roosters scattered about the yards suggested cock fighting to me, I could be wrong but it sure felt like those chickens were going to be for entertainment purposes only.

    That just sounds sinister...

Plus, hey, I call a piece of fried chicken entertainment.

Has Rinso ever been to Arkansawww ? If so, there's definitely chicky prostitution going on there ! Hmmm, wasn't he in "New York" not that long ago ? On his way to check out his little "investment" i'm sure...

And I'm sure they get force fed and stuffed with growth hormones. I keep getting spam mail telling me I should get a huge cock... With my filthy mind, I always assumed that was sexual and binned it...

Oh, I see! 'Chickens' denotes hens rather than cockerels, to my mind.
